Whatever Works

In the end, the romantic aspirations of our youth are reduced to "whatever works."

In Love

Danny: "We don't need to do it now but at some point I'm going to need you to level with me about Harriet. I need to know how big a problem it's going to be."
Matt: "It's not going to be a problem at all."
Danny: "It will if you're in love with her."
Matt: "I'm not. I'm not. Danny! I love her talent. The woman's got millions of fans, but there are maybe fifty guys in town who really understand how good she is, and we're two of them. That's all, I admire her. I'm knocked out by her talent. [pause] I like it when she makes me laugh, and I like making her laugh, which isn't an easy thing to do, so it's gratifying. She's undeniably sexy. I like it when she smiles at me, and a couple of other things, but that's it."
Danny: "Oh my god, we are so screwed."
Matt: "I know."

One at a Time

"Only one of us can screw up at a time and I think we both know that most of the time it's going to be me. You're the big shoulders." - Matthew Perry as Matt Albie in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Thinking Too Much

Lord Gillingham: It gave me time to think for once.
Violet Crawley: Oh! What about, particularly?
Lord Gillingham: My life, I suppose.
Isobel Crawley: Everyone should, from time to time.
Violet Crawley: Oh I can't agree. In my experience it's a dangerous occupation.
Lord Gillingham: Dangerous?
Violet Crawley: Well, no life appears rewarding if you think too much about it.

Thinker

Mr. Branson is a keen political thinker. He proves this by not being afraid to question his own beliefs.

Something to Remember

"It's no good, Tony. I can't. I'm not free of him. Yesterday you said, I fill your brain. Well, Matthew fills mine, still. And I don't want to be without him. Not yet."
"Can I ask one favour? And then I really will go and leave you in peace."
"What is it?"
"Will you kiss me, please? I will never love again as I love you in this moment, and I must have something to remember."

Marriage

There is no such thing as a marriage between two intelligent people that does not sometimes have to negotiate thin ice. I know. You must wait until things become clear, and they will. The damage cannot be irreparable when a man and a woman love each other as much as you do. My goodness, that was strong talk for an Englishman.
